Check of serviceability of functioning and replacement of the block of the sensor of a measuring instrument of temperature of cooling liquid

Before starting performance of procedure wait complete cooling of the engine!



1. The device of indication of temperature of cooling liquid consists of the car of a measuring instrument built in in an instrument guard and the sensor of temperature established on the block of the engine, is direct under the ignition distributor (4-cylinder models) or the thermostat (V6 model) built in in a casing. On some models it can be provided more than one temperature sensor, however in system of indication one of them is used always only.

Cars considered in the real Management are equipped with electric fans of systems of cooling and air conditioning. Try not to approach hands to krylchatka of fans who at the included ignition can unexpectedly work even at the muffled engine.

2. If the measuring instrument shows an overheat even at unequivocally cold engine, it is necessary to check electroconducting between the dashboard and the temperature sensor on existence of signs of short circuit.
3. If the measuring instrument does not function at all, check a condition of its electric contour, having quickly closed on weight going to the temperature sensor a wire at the included ignition (the engine it is not necessary to start). If the arrow of the indicator deviates till the end of a scale, replace the sensor.

Try not to touch blades of the fan of system of cooling which can join even at the muffled engine!

4. If the arrow remains motionless, check on break electroconducting of a chain of a measuring instrument.
5. In the absence of confidence of serviceability of the sensor of temperature, measure its electric resistance at cold and at the hot engine. Resistance of the sensor should change in inverse proportion to measurement of temperature and at the cold engine (below 57°С) to make about 137 Ohm. In process of an engine warming up resistance of the sensor should decrease gradually and at temperature of 86 ÷ 101 °C to reach value in a range of 30 ÷ 46 Ohm. The faulty sensor is subject to replacement.



For replacement of the sensor of temperature simply turn out it from the engine and quickly screw in the released opening new which carving it is necessary to grease beforehand with hermetic (should not try to use for consolidation of landing of the sensor by a teflon tape, or the tape FUM).

Replacement of the sensor of temperature should be made on the cold engine! Prepare for collecting spilled liquid. Having replaced the sensor, check level of cooling liquid, in case of need make the corresponding adjustment (see. Head of Control and routine maintenance).
